Luma Arles, a futuristic architecture in a medieval city
The opening of the cultural centre Luma and its futuristic architecture transforms the urban landscape of Arles.
The project was initiated in 2013 by Maja Hoffmann’s foundation on Parc des ateliers and has been unveiled in August, 2021. Overlooking the old town, the Luma tower brings a whole new modernist appearance to the city, contrasting with its numerous vestiges of the roman period. The tower, designed by architect Frank Gehry rises to 56 metres and boasts 12 floors, temporary and permanent exhibitions, and two toboggans going all the way down to the main entrance.

With its bold architecture, Frank Gehry’s newest creation brings a new light over the city of Arles and in Provence.
